Hinkley Point

Hinkley Point is based on the Somerset coast in an area renowned for its outstanding places of natural beauty. With attractive countryside, peaceful remote locations, lots of outdoor activities and friendly community spirit, it's a great area to live and work in. The local area offers fresh farm produce available from the road side and in the many farmers markets in the area. For shopping, the nearest major town is Bridgewater, although the M5 isn’t far away, giving access to Bristol to the north and Taunton and the English Riviera to the south.

The pace of life in Somerset seems far more relaxed than many other parts of the UK, but there are still plenty of activities. Rugby and cricket are very popular, together with sea angling, swimming, sailing and horse riding. With rural and coastal walks, it’s also a great place for hiking. Public transport can be hit and miss, depending on where you live, but, as well as being close to the M5, Taunton also offers a high speed service to London in under two hours.

There are two power stations on site - Hinkley Point A stopped generating electricity in 1999 and is being decommissioned, while Hinkley Point B is scheduled to run until 2016. The perimeter fence is around 4.5 kilometres long and CNC facilities include office space, briefing rooms, locker space and rest areas.
