Sellafield is on the beautiful north west coast of England, close to the Cumbrian fells and with the Lake District on its doorstep. If you like the outdoors, this is the ideal place for you – it’s a remote, beautiful location, with a lot of attractions including magnificent scenery. The nearest large towns are Whitehaven and Workington to the north, and Barrow-in-Furness to the south. It’s a great area for families, with a wide choice of places to live in, from towns to villages and hamlets.
This is the largest nuclear site the Civil Nuclear Constabulary polices and has a perimeter fence area of approximately 8 miles. If you move to the area, you will need your own transport, although there are regular train links to and from the Sellafield site.
