Standard working hours for police officers are normally a 12-hour shift pattern. Standard working hours for Police Staff are normally 37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week for non-shift workers.
We are keen to develop a culture that promotes a healthy work-life balance. So we also have a flexi-time and flexible working scheme which offer opportunities for part-time working and job-sharing.
Everyone is eligible for eight public holidays, normally be taken on:
- New Year’s Day
- Good Friday
- Easter Monday
- May Bank Holiday
- Spring Bank Holiday
- August Bank Holiday
- Christmas Day
- Boxing Day
If you have a shift that falls on one of these holidays, you will be expected to work that day and take another day as holiday instead. If these holidays are not related to your faith, you can also arrange with your line manager to take them on occasions that are more appropriate for you to celebrate on.
